Storage Method

Storage temperature: Store at -18 °C or lower; Do not refreeze after thawing.
Consumer storage:
- Refrigerator 0 to 2 °C: 1 day
- Freezer -6 °C: 1 week
- Freezer -12 °C: 1 month
- Freezer -18 °C and lower: See best before date

When the correct technological procedure is followed, freezing is a completely gentle and safe method of food preservation. During the processing, we do not add anything extra to the fish – no water or additives. The weight indicated for individual portions is therefore the actual weight of the meat. If the fish fillets are thawed correctly, the taste and nutrient content are comparable to freshly caught fish.

No Added Water

We don't need to artificially increase the weight of products by adding water to the muscle tissue of frozen fish. You can recognise such fish by the first taste; as soon as the water is released during heat treatment, you are left with tasteless meat.

The only acceptable form of water content in frozen foods is a protective glaze. This is applied to the surface of the fish or seafood (typically, e.g., shrimp) and thus protects the fish from freezing out. This protective layer ranges between 5-20 % and must always be stated in the product's ingredients! Therefore, if the fish is not vacuum-packed, water in the form of a protective glaze is even desirable for maintaining quality.

We Freeze Differently

We freeze fish so that you have meat at home of a quality that is almost indistinguishable from the moment shortly after being caught. Fishing takes place on small fishing boats that go out to sea in the morning and return in the evening, which is why our fish are portioned, packaged, and frozen within 24 hours of being caught. This avoids the plundering of marine ecosystems and the waste of so-called "unsuitable catches", as happens when freezing on large floating factories that are at sea for days or weeks.

I am grateful that Boxxi exists, because I have the opportunity to buy fish somewhere that I trust is from sustainable farming, that it will be healthy and beneficial to health. I'm just afraid they might have to close down again. That would be a huge shame. I think there are few such fish shops that care about ecology. Very few.

Great tuna, great salmon. Both went into sushi, part (tuna) into tartare. Both dishes absolutely excellent. And the shop staff? Perfect, helpful, advised on how to defrost. So I'll come here; I'm glad there are shops like this. Big thumbs up.

Aby se v tom tady někdo vyznal.. není původ ryb, na obrázku svítí 8x a 10x v popisu pak 4x a 2x... chtěl jsem objednat, ale mám vážné obavy, zda to myslíte vážně

Dobrý den, na obrázku vidíte porce. Tuňák je z malediv a naše standartní balení obsahuje 5ks těchto tuňákových steaku tedy počet porcí jak na obrázku. Losos je z islandu z land base farmy First Water - zase standartně balen po 2 porcích co máte na obrázku.
